Behind the Art with Heather Adams

Happy Thursday! It's Heather here sharing another "Behind the Art" post! :)

Here's one of the layouts I made this month with the "Empathy" kit.

When I saw the gold and silver gelatos in the kit, I knew I wanted to try some artsy drawing with them. On this particular page, I used the gold gelato and drew a big heart on the cream card stock background. I drew the heart a couple times and then used water and a paintbrush to blend it together. After that dried, I decided to use some gesso to add another stroke of color. I was going to leave the heart nice and neutral, but then I decided it needed some COLOR, so I handcut a heart out of the Market paper from the Maggie Holmes Flea Market line and stitched that onto the layout. Ahh… much better.

I thought the banner chalkboard sticker from the MME Chalk Studio stickers looked so awesome on the side of the heart. Like it was meant to be. I was going to use the "Collage" thickers included in the kit for the title, but then I decided to stay with the artsy feel and hand paint the title. I used just some basic black acrylic paint mixed with a little bit of water to paint it.

A tip for painting script-y titles is this: dip your paint brush into the black paint and then dip your brush in a little bit of water. This makes the paint flow better.

EMPATHY- I used a huge heart on this page because the whole point of this page is to say that I love speaking my heart and listening to others' hearts. I LOVE to talk and so having late night "girl talks" is right up my alley. :) That's actually what my friends and I were doing in the photo on this page. So my heart on this page reflects that I love being open to hearing others.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! :)
