Vulnerable:
1. capable of or susceptible to being wounded or hurt, as by a weapon: a vulnerable part of the body.
2. open to moral attack, criticism, temptation, etc.: an argument vulnerable to refutation; He is vulnerable to bribery.
3. (of a place) open to assault; difficult to defend: a vulnerable bridge.

When we open ourselves up to a relationship, a friendship, ANY connection in our lives, we are placing ourselves in a position of vulnerability. It can be scary and sometimes even exciting! Think about that first date, or the first time you really connected with a friend. And, yes, it can hurt. Being vulnerable means you allow yourself to trust. Without just cause in the beginning. You take a leap of faith. And within that leap you believe. And be believing, you can love. And within that love we can find safety, trust, friendship, laughter and so much more.
To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. C.S. Lewis
Happy Valentines Day! See you next Saturday!!
