Technique Tricks!!

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Happy Kentucky Derby!

Today I thought we could visit with Jen Mattot and see how she used some of the tools we provide in our kits to create amazing "art" within our pages.
This is from the Contentment Kit

"Monet" by Jennifer Matott

This was my first layout that I created with this kit.  I knew after looking at the Crafter's Workshop template included in the April kit, that I had the perfect photos to create a layout!  I visited NYC in March for a conference and went to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).  I found myself in the "Waterlilies" room with 3 large paintings by Claude Monet.  I feel instant contentment there just existing with these larger than life works.

I knew I wanted to turn the template flower into a dimensional waterlily to illustrate my experience with Monet's famous paintings.  I used the Smooch spray, light modeling paste, and markers to create the positive and negative shapes.

The light modeling paste was smeared through the template and once dry, I laid the template over the 3D image and sprayed!

I took the template and turned it upside down and stamped the remaining spray onto the paper to create an inverse image. I did outline with a PITT artist pen to create a bit more definition.

The use of the template created a fun accent that gave my page a bit of texture and interest to the theme I chose.  I love the versatility of the template and the materials.  I plan to share more about how to use art media on your pages in May!

Thanks Jen!!! We love your techniques!! All your creative ideas... and just are thrilled you are part of our team!!!
See you soon!
