Thursday Winner and Weekend Food for Thought

It's time for yesterday's winner! My apologies for not posting earlier and for missing the chance to post today. I had an unexpected (timewise, that is) wisdom tooth pulling yesterday and I'm not quite 100%. We'll do TWO giveaways on Monday!

Random.org says our winner is #2:

Wasted time is never wasted! Every moment is a blessing. You never know when that 'wasted moment' may be your last.

Congratulations, LaMaMaLa! Thanks for playing...I have your address from your win on day #1! Maybe lightning can strike twice! Keep playing all!

A thought for the weekend:

When we are capable of living in the moment free from the tyranny of "shoulds," free from the nagging sensation that this moment isn't right, we will have peaceful hearts. Joan Borysenko

My schedule sometimes seems insurmountable...especially at this time of year. I do have to make a special effort to release myself on occasion from the ever-growing to-do list(s) on my desk. In a larger way, there are times I look at my path and wonder if everything is moving along as it should. Taking the opportunity to actively release those 'shoulds' and embrace life just as it is in this moment is key...but often hard to do. It's a great direction in which to move.

What do you think of the quote above?

thank you! i got my first prize today! and i so wanted those frames, so this is awesome!

So...about the quote. Hmm. A close family member died very suddenly Thursday, and i realized that that is a truth. Sometimes the only thing you can do is live in the moment, and to release the pressure of tomorrow is the only thing that can help you cope. We can only do so much, and the unattainable expectations we put on ourselves do not help these matters. It is important to keep life in perspective, which means knowing where you're headed, but it's even MORE important to enjoy what you're doing in this very moment.

Owww! I hope you are feeling better!

A very wise quote, but very hard to manage to do and remember! I hope thru all the business of this month I will take time to be content in the moment of what I am doing and try not to think ahead of all that needs doing, thus missing out on something by not being 'in' the moment. Did that make sense? lol

Ooooh, ouch, hope your tooth feels better very soon Rach.

I really connect to this quote, very wise words - I think we all put soooo much pressure on ourselves, particularly at this time of year, and it's really difficult to stop that 'should, must and have to' treadmill.

ah, "should"...not my favorite word. I am learning how to silence or at least put into perspective my "inner critic's" voice. In fact, I just read an article about "where it comes from, why you listen to it-and how to get it to shut up" by Geneen Roth, in the January issue of Good Housekeeping. We need to remember that the inner voice is not "us", to separate from it, and to talk back to it to defend ourselves from its cruelty.
Sorry to hear about your tooth, Rachel, hope you are on the mend.
And thanks for the great prize, I can't wait to use those flowers!
